Dominica Records First Victory in Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup Qualifiers
2 min readPIGGOTTS, Antigua & Barbuda, October 29, 2023: – The Dominica Senior National Women’s Team recorded its first victory in the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup Qualifiers on Sunday, October 29, at the ABFA Technical Centre in Antigua and Barbuda.
Despite the home field advantage for the Antigua and Barbuda Women, Dominica won 2-1.
Antigua and Barbuda had the edge in the start over Dominica, scoring the first goal in the game in the 4th minute of play.
Dominica’s first goal was scored on a penalty-shot by Midfielder Starr Humphreys, in the 19th minute of play. Humphreys netted for the second time in the 81st minute to give Dominica its 2- goal victory.
However, the game was not without penalties against both teams. Antigua was handed a red card and a yellow card, while Dominica ended the game with two yellow cards for Britney Dennis and Captain Romelcia Phillip and a red card for Kasika Samuel.
The starting XI included Celia Gregoire (GK), Kasika Samuel (RB), Kira Bertrand (CB), Kylee Bertrand (CB), Jessica Pierre Louis (LB), Aliane George (RMD), Starr Humphreys (CMF) Sari Finn (CM), Romelcia Phillip (LMD), Britney Dennis (S) and Le-Myah Forde (S).
The substitutes that were brought onto the field for this match were Keanna Francis, Kenisha Jno. Lewis, Ezra Elwin, Ch’ina Tulloch, and Amiah Gilbert. Gilbert ended the game with a leg injury.

The 2023 Road to W Gold Cup is a qualifier for the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup. The qualifying tournament is scheduled to take place during the FIFA Women’s International Match Windows of September, October, and November 2023.
